Lost and Found

I was lost. But now I have found my way.

How did I do it?

I admitted that I fucked up. And I forgave myself. Then I listened over and over to motivational tapes. You know the ones. They say its ok to fail as long as you move forward. Mistakes are your friend. I’m not sold on that one. Mistakes are learning experiences.

After a few of those tapes I found some mentors online. And I just started taking action. And adjusting. Over and over and over.

You want to do the same things? Here’s a quick action list.

Action Items:

1. Absorb everything from these guys

1. Gary Vaynerchuck

2. Seth Godin

3. Les Brown

2. Make a rough plan

3. Act!

4. Adjust!

5. Repeat 3 & 4 until goal achieved

6. Set new goal

Hard Road Ahead

Don’t make the project easy.

Think about how many people want the easy road. No one asks for the road filled with barbed wire, trolls, and unreliable friends. But that’s exactly what I want.

It allows me to separate from the herd. Once I’ve gone that extra mile there are only a few brothers of the way. Soldiers on the warpath from good to great. I’ve got my helmet strapped up.

So,yep. I’ll take the hard road.

I will win.

The first choice made the second one predictable.

#Entrepreneurship: Intentional Mistakes?

It plays out perfect in my head. But in the real world. Something different happens. So, I stop to analyze. The problem, the action, and the outcome.

Am I screwing up on purpose?

That would mean that I know the right thing to do. Yet I somehow go the wrong way. When I replay the events, I know the truth. I move fast with half knowledge because I will never have perfect knowledge. And this means I will make a lot of mistakes. But at what point am I moving to fast? Entrepreneurship is a lot harder than people tell you. Who do you trust to give it to you straight answers? And even if they give you straight answers, at the end of the day you have to make the choice.

This life has many more questions than answers.

I am starting to be ok with that. I also see that being at the top is a lonely road. Which makes me happy in a way. I like fighting long, uphill battles that are individual. The victory at the end is sweeter. You can be proud of what you accomplished.

So what does that mean for me?

Good news. You are fulfilling your purpose. The path winds through peaks and valleys, yet you must stay the course.

And I have chosen this path. Time to put one foot in front of the other.

#Life Lessons: The Choice is Always Yours

The only way to know what is beyond the known is to act.

Some say a leap of faith but what they mean is action into the unknown .

Life is not predetermined.

Since you cannot know the future before it happens every action is a leap of faith.

That the world is good, righteous, and just. That you know what’s right and what to do. And only you can do it.

Whatever that action is … YOU must do it. You decide, then you act.

[Tweet “And in acting, you accept the consequences. Whatever they may be.”]

The choice is always yours. To be or not to be. Not just a philosophical question. But your life.

What to do?

Only you decide.

#Fitness: Hurt vs. Injured

Each breathe comes faster than the last. And then I hit my rhythm. Two heartbeats per breath. And I can feel my chest thumping. Thump. Thump. Breathe.

And then my left ankle speaks up. You know what I mean. It says “What are you thinking? You can’t do this. I’m in pain.”

And from this convo I learned a trick while running.

Identify the defective system. Sorry, left ankle. No disrespect.

Thank the pain. It means you’re still alive. I say, “Thank you left ankle for letting me know.”

But that is just information.

To decide what to do next I go one level deeper.

Are you hurt or injured?

Why the 20 questions you ask?

To make sure that I know the difference

[Tweet “So I can identify my limit and push it.”]

Because I said so.

Hurt vs. Injured – What’s the difference?

Here’s how I see it. Hurt = pain but I can push through it. Injured = I have to stop and should get medical care.

Those are hard standards. But it has allowed me to push right up against my comfort zone.

So next time your body screams at you to stop. Ask yourself that question.

And if nothing else, you just went 5 more seconds. Sounds win-win to me.
