Intense Writing

The third cup of coffee. It does it every time. When I need focus, when I want to clear my mind, and put extra effort into writing. Nothing else does this for me.

My brain kicks into overdrive. Thoughts pour out. No filter. Perfect for the type of writing I’m doing.

Writing action scenes is intense.
[Tweet “I’m there. In the scene imagining what would happen. I can see the details.”]
My senses kick into overdrive. I smell the dew in the air, feel my heart race, and know the weight of the actions. It’s an intense experience.

Today, I wrote a scene about a gun battle. I pulled the details from my training. Vivid is the only description.

Here’s an excerpt:
” I sprint to the left of the door. Blinded from the flashbang. Slam into the wall and fire 3 shots through the door. They want a fight. Here it comes.”

Beach Life

The fun part is sitting out, relaxing and disconnecting. We free ourselves from the daily distractions of the world. And in doing so we go up another level.

Our vacations become off-site meetings. We focus on what we want. Set direction. Plan. It’s a great time. No set agenda. Talking about our visions for the future.

Every team needs that open, honest communication to work.

Vacation is where we get it done.

Hope you guys have a great weekend. We did.

I Didn’t Forget

I know. I said, “…posting on here daily.” My bad. It’s a lot harder than I expected.

Building a brand takes work.

I’m focused on video for the next 12 weeks. My skills are lacking. But time and effort will fix that.

The overall goal: to tell great stories.

Since I was young, I love stories. They enchant me. I’ve never been the best communicator. Ask my wife!

That is going to change. I’m learning everything I can. Taking frameworks and building out themes. Hammering away and getting  better at sharing.

I can see the big picture – hint, everything matters.

So, bear with me. I’ll do better.
