Initial Planning – 2017

Coming into 2017, I am looking to deepen my focus on what I am accomplishing.

Found a job that I like a lot. Compliments my skills and allows me the freedom to win.

My business goals have stayed the same for an entire year now. I know it’s time to put more energy on this project.

Ash Media Empire is a good idea, that deserves great execution. Knowing myself, I need to do what I’m great at, managing. So, I’m going to do that and not the rest. Time to delegate.

Hard decisions, no. Necessary, yes. Done

Work, Business, and Life all need the same structured focus.

I will be integrating them fully into my GTD – Evernote system.

Coding will be a big part of my plans because I like the methodologies and thinking it promotes.

Overall Goals

  1. Family
  2. Job
  3. Business
  4. Skills

Stay tuned for more frequent updates.

The Way I Work

To outsiders, it must look like I don’t do much.

New ideas all the time. Slow progress on old ones.

But inside it’s pedal to the floor. Every day I’m learning. More and more things change. And, I adjust accordingly.

Every new day brings new decisions. I love the game.

So, yes. From the outside, I can see it looks like not much is going on.

But I wish you could see the messy work going on.

It reminds me of those sayings of overnight successes.

“Dude, one day he just blew up.”

There is no way it’s like that.

We toil in the quiet and the finished product is our result.

But that process of work. That is our real salvation.

I compare it to going pro in baseball.

I was the friend of a catcher turned pitcher who ended up winning a World Series.

Want to know what I saw?

Every day from the time we were little kids this guy worked on baseball. Not some days. Not a little.

But a full workout. Every. Single. Day.

No days off, no holidays. And to him, it wasn’t work.

He loved the game. Think about that.

That’s how I feel about my work.

It’s passion. Love. Dedication. Inspiration.

#Entrepreneurship: Intentional Mistakes?

It plays out perfect in my head. But in the real world. Something different happens. So, I stop to analyze. The problem, the action, and the outcome.

Am I screwing up on purpose?

That would mean that I know the right thing to do. Yet I somehow go the wrong way. When I replay the events, I know the truth. I move fast with half knowledge because I will never have perfect knowledge. And this means I will make a lot of mistakes. But at what point am I moving to fast? Entrepreneurship is a lot harder than people tell you. Who do you trust to give it to you straight answers? And even if they give you straight answers, at the end of the day you have to make the choice.

This life has many more questions than answers.

I am starting to be ok with that. I also see that being at the top is a lonely road. Which makes me happy in a way. I like fighting long, uphill battles that are individual. The victory at the end is sweeter. You can be proud of what you accomplished.

So what does that mean for me?

Good news. You are fulfilling your purpose. The path winds through peaks and valleys, yet you must stay the course.

And I have chosen this path. Time to put one foot in front of the other.
